Leavers' Zone - volunteers needed

Did you know the Baptist Churches and Churches of Christ Sport and Recreation Association partner together to provide a safer environment for School Leavers to Celebrate?
Did you know that each night over Leavers' week in 2008, we looked after 6,500 teenagers by providing a safer, alcohol free environment for them to celebrate in?
Did you know that since this programme began the following outcomes have been achieved?
91% reduction in arrests- 60% reduction in the costs incurred for repairs and cleanup
Did you know that we need your help to provide the 220 volunteers needed each night in late November 2009 to run areas in both Dunsborough and Rottnest?
Did you know whilst we need a number of volunteers aged 17+, we are also seeking older 35+ aged volunteers? In 2008, we had several retirees volunteering.
Volunteers are needed for the following areas:

To register as a volunteer to work in the Leavers Zone you need to meet the following requirements:
- Be 17 years of age or older
- Fill in Application for Joining Green Team
- Fill in National Police Check Form
- If over 18, have a current Working With Children Card. Application at any post office. (Apply early as it can take several weeks to have your application processed).
- Attend a training session (dates to be set)
- Agree to sign a Code Of Conduct that all volunteers from all agencies adhere to
- Meet some of the cost of accomodation and meals.
Cost
Whilst we fully recognise that you are donating your time over Leavers, unfortunately there is a number of costs that do need to be met. Last year, costs were $60 - $70 per person and covered meals, accommodation and Volunteers tops. Our aim is to keep these costs similar. At this stage, we are waiting to see if we have been successful with grants applications to help keep these costs as low as possible.
It is also a requirement with your Application for Green Team to complete a National Police Check form to be handed in prior to Leavers. This must be handed in no later than your training night. Click here to download the form. The Baptist Churches of WA will process these forms at no cost to you.
