Baptist Churches of WA are working towards creating a safer environment for all those that have contact with/ within our churches. To do this, we are rolling out our Safe Church Programme. This incorporates a ChurchSafe workshop for every person in a leadership role within our churches. The workshops cover the following areas:

Safe Church Programme 

As part of our Safe Church Programme we are running ChurchSafe workshops. SafeChurch is a new programme aimed at supporting and caring for those in our care - those involved in our churches and church programmes. The workshops are intended for everyone in any leadership role - be Crèche, Sunday School, Youth, Craft, Home Group, Deacons, Elders and Pastors.

 

It utilises the ChildSafe online management system and equips all leaders to be aware of risks and issues that can arise within their programmes and how best to deal with them.

 

As with keeping First-Aid licences up to date, it is recommended that “everyone” in a leadership role attends a workshop within the first 12 months in that role and then again every three years.

 

Some will find the material in the workshop as basic knowledge, whilst for others it is all new. What the workshop does is to provide information for everyone in leadership in your church so that everyone can be working from the same page.

To roll out the programme, we are prepared to come and run the workshop at your church. However, for regional towns and / or smaller churches - opportunities to combine are greatly encouraged. 

 

We will also advertise booked seminars on the BUWA website so you can check if there is room for newly appointed leaders to attend.   This will ensure that those leaders are trained as soon as possible instead of waiting for another workshop to be run at your church.

 

ChurchSafe workshops are conducted by an accredited trainer through the Safe Church Training Agreement. It is important to note that In house training by a non accredited trainer is not recognised. Also, all training materials are copyrighted and must not be copied at all, not even in parts.
